Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 27th, 2008 | News

If you are in the United States chances are you’ve got the day off (unless you’re working retail or fast food in which which case you have my sympathetic condolences) in stary eye’d celebration of our pilgrim heritage. I hope your day is filled with family, food, and numbrix. Let me tell you, one thing I am thankful for is that I am finally done with this numbrix program and can present it to you. Running yourself through a few numbrix puzzles can be a good way to keep your mind active while tryptophan attempts to lull you into dream land.

Because it was such a big thing for me, next week I’ll have a post mortem about writing the numbrix puzzle, and then hopefully I’ll finally be over it.

On the matter of thanksgiving, there are a number of things I’m thankful for, not the least of which being this site and those who frequent it. I’m also extremely thankful for those who have contributed so far. Without a doubt the best programs on this site are those that haven’t been written by me. I’m thankful for OddBob for hosting this site.

Offline, I’m thankful for my wife and kids who are constantly making me a better person, for getting me out of the basement and making good enough not good enough any more and for giving me someone I would rather do for than do for myself. I’m thankful for my family, sisters, brother, and parents, who I am currently out of town visiting. I am thankful for my job which I know I’ve never mentioned here, but it is something I’m truly lucky on several levels to have. Just to give you an idea, if I haddn’t gotten this job I may very well have gone back to teaching 7th grade math. I thank those who I work with for giving me a chance, even tho my resume was a bit weak. I am thankful for all the stuff in my life like the laptop I am writing this on, the warm house I am writing this in, the comfortable couch I am writing this on, the reliable car that takes me to and from work, the van that takes the family everywhere else, and every other convienience that I would take for granted without days like this. Finally, without getting too preachy I’m thankful for my faith and my God.

And before anyone goes writing me, yes I know tryptophan’s effect in turkey is an urban myth.
